“Developing an Off Grid Community”
Welcome to Somewheresouth.com, an innitaitive started in 2010 focusing on sustainable 'off the grid housing' technology. Our centre is located in an unspoilt valley on the edge of a national park in Northern Portugal. The area of land is around 6 acres and contains currently four small stone dwellings, all in need of drastic rennovation. Our hope is to utilise the natural elements to create an off grid community, with various technologies utilising the Portuguese sun, the two waterfalls and the wind. To achieve this we are drawing on our creative innovation and aiming to reuse as many scrap components and second hand as possible. In addition we are constructing a sustainable water infrastructure and washing and waste facilities. Lastly, but not least, we are also developing a shared online resource for off the grid solutions, so get in touch if you are interested in this area.
